night and correspondence faculties, a faculty
of raising the level of professional skills of
teachers of higher educational institutions
and retraining of specialists, postgraduate
courses and courses for doing doctoral dissertations,
training laboratories in modern
fields of geodesy, cartography and remote
sensing. In the structure of the University
there are field-study centers Reprography
and the Russian Cartographical Centre, the
Publishing House of the Journal Geodesy and
Air Photography, two training ranges, a few
computing centers, a training-geodetic
museum and a library.
A great volume of research activities and industrial work is performed by the
University research-and-production centers.
At the University, 5,000 students and postgraduate
students from all over Russia and
from the CIS and foreign countries are

members of various academies, 68 professors and doctors of sciences and
230 senior lecturers, who did their PhD, and candidates of sciences.
A considerable proportion of the teaching staff has got great experience in production
and scientific activities. Nowadays, 12 Honored Workers of Science, Technology
and Education of Russia are working at the University. 36 persons have the honorary
title of the Honorific Worker of Geodesy and Cartography.
36 departments support the training
process at the University, a majority of them
being graduating. 8 new departments have
been established and reorganized for the last
5 years at the University in order to start training
specialists in information technologies,
application of up-to-date hardware and technology
